About Mag. Sevgi Uluköylü
My name is Mag. Sevgi Uluköylü, and I studied Translation Studies in Graz. I work as a conference interpreter, community interpreter, specialized translator, and language trainer in German, Turkish, and English.
In the winter semester of 2018/2019, I taught at the Postgraduate Center of the University of Vienna in the university program “Interpreting for Courts and Public Authorities.” Since the winter semester of 2020/21, I have been a lecturer at the Institute of Translation Studies at Karl Franzens University of Graz.
From 2010 to 2019, I was actively involved on a voluntary basis as a board member of the professional association Universitas Austria in Vienna. In 2013, I founded the Committee for Community Interpreting (AfCI) and served as its chair until 2019. Together with AfCI, I initiated COMMUNITAS in 2018 under the umbrella of Universitas Austria—a platform for networking and exchange among community interpreters.
In recognition of my long-standing commitment to language mediation, I was awarded the Elisabeth Markstein Prize in 2018—an honorary distinction acknowledging my work in support of the interpreting and translation profession.
